Chargeback Remedy Requirements

Providing the correct remedy requirements is crucial for Zai to accept your claim and maximise your chances of successfully disputing a chargeback.

When a chargeback is received, a reason code is provided to indicate why the cardholder is disputing the transaction. Each reason code has specific documents or evidence required to respond to the dispute. This evidence, known as remedy requirements, must be submitted to:

  • the cardholder or issuing bank (if the dispute is in the chargeback stage), or
  • the card network (if the chargeback has entered arbitration)

Submitting incomplete or incorrect evidence may result in the claim being rejected and a chargeback loss.

Remedy requirements for each card scheme are publicly available. Familiarising yourself with them improves your likelihood of a successful response.
